Apology Letter Bank

What is an Apology Letter Bank?

An Apology Letter Bank promotes meaningful healing by allowing an incarcerated person, or a person who caused harm, to write a letter of apology to the crime survivor(s).

Survivors are notified of the letter(s) and decide if they would like to accept the letter. Support is provided for both the survivors and letter writers.

An Apology Letter is designed to do the following:

  • Allows the responsible party to voice their remorse to the people who have been directly affected by their actions
  • May lead to a Harm Dialogue
  • Promotes meaningful healing for all participants
